Friend Request

Friend Request | Short Poem No. 42

While waiting for a friend request. . .

“Funny.” Everyone’s laughing.

“Strange kid.” I don’t fit in.

“Problems.” Ya I’ve got them.

“Wrong Clothes.” Our budget’s thin.

“Awkward.” What can I say now?

“Sounds weird.” I speak my best.

“Annoying.” I just want to fit.

“Disadvantaged.” That explains the rest.

Friend Request

But when I go home at night and I’m all alone,

their words start to make sense to me.

I lay down staring at an empty phone (no messages).

When will they know the real me?

Maybe one day they’ll get to see. . .

is not true. . .

no it’s not true at all. . .

Sometimes a friend request will come. . . sometimes it won’t. Not every story has a fairy-tale ending.

    1. Yes. Sometimes we like to think everything will end up fine. But sometimes we may be that one that never gets a friend request. . . Sad but true. Thanks for commenting, Krisha.
