Will I Write Again Today

Will I Write Again Today? | Short Poem No. 38

Will I write again today? Let my heart bleed through my pen?

Let all the things that I forgot flood back into my head?

I open up my heart as I mark down on the paper. . .

and that paper cuts me like a dagger.

What a release, when the words flow from my heart.

I breathe again when I write, but it reminds me that I hurt.

Will I Write Again Today

Living life dumb and dull, I can make it through the day.

But I’m haunted again – reminded why I run away.

Beneath a callused skin, tender feelings prick again.

Beneath a callused heart, tender emotions still run thin.

What a release, when the words flow from my heart.

I breathe again when I write, but it reminds me that I hurt.

You can have my heart, I’ll spill it on this paper.

And when I’m all alone, you might hear me whimper.

Should I stop it all? Leave my heart behind?

Only tomorrow will tell – if I’ll write again next time.

  1. Loved this writing! You speak for all of us bleeding hearts – it is like some magic that makes words on paper and brings sweet relief…sometimes delight and sometimes more tears. Thank you! 🙂

    1. Mostly I am happy and words come on the paper like blue skies, butterflies – gratitude for the present moment….but sometimes my heart cries and then the tears turn up as words…..does this even make sense? Sorry if it sounds crazy! 🙂

    2. Yes, you are crazy, but that makes sense to me. We are just the crazy writers, writing whatever we feel! You always do a great job on your blog.

  2. Yeah. To be frank thanks the reason I stopped writting for sometime. Last few months I was writting in some speed, when suddenly one day I could not bear the emotional preassure. I had to slow down.
